Green Bay, WI

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  30 votes

Green Bay is the heavy favorite for this contest. The actual official title of Green Bay is Titletown (that's the city's seal there. Notice the Packers logo and the subtitle). Green Bay shuts down during Packers games, the fans bleed green and gold, and are fine with sitting through the frozen tundra even through the bad years of the Packers.

Detroit, MI

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  27 votes

The Detroit Red Wings alone make Detroit a candidate for the list. Detroit has some of the fiercest (and loudest) fans around.

Pistons: three championships (1989, 1990, 2004) and seven conference titles (1955, 1956, 1988, 1989, 1990, 2004, 2005)

Shock: two championships (2003, 2006) and three conference titles (2003, 2006, 2007)

Tigers: four World Series wins (1984, 1968, 1945, 1935) and 10 AL pennants (2006, 1984, 1968, 1945, 1940, 1935, 1934, 1909, 1908, 1907)

Red Wings: 10 Stanley Cups (1935-36, 1936-37, 1942-43, 1949-50, 1951-52, 1953-54, 1954-55, 1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02) and four conference titles (1994-95, 1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02)

Boston, MA

Boston has fiercely devoted fans, how else could they be Red Sox fans so long? Of course, we all know they have been rewarded by the powers that be, with the Red Sox current success. The Boston Celtics are the defending champions and also have a storied history. The Patriots completed the undefeated regular season this past year and have been a dominant team.

Los Angeles, CA

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  26 votes

'Simply listening to Vin Scully's call of a Sandy Koufax no-hitter (not to mention one of the five Los Angeles championships) sends shivers down your spine. Or how about the thrill of hearing Chick Hearn put one of the Lakers' nine world championships in the refrigerator during the 'Showtime' Lakers or Shaq and Kobe days? These moments have no parallel in any other city.

USC's dominance in baseball helped lead it to 73 men's NCAA titles (the most of any school). This doesn't even include its 11 national football championships, which aren't included in the championship count (tied, most Heisman Trophy winners). If USC athletes had competed as a country in the 2004 Athens Olympics, they would have finished 16th overall. Shoot down the 10 freeway and you'll find UCLA, the first NCAA school to 100 national championships (70 men's, 30 women's). This powerhouse defined college basketball during the Wooden Years.'-kingneem

San Francisco, CA

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  24 votes

'The fog rolls under the infamous Golden Gate Bridge, the awesome city, the 'Stick' as it's called right on the bay. Whether it's a Sunday afternoon or a COLD Monday night kickoff where the die-hard fans pack the stadiums, the San Francisco 49ers know a thing or two about football and have laid down their claim as to why San Francisco is 'TITLETOWN.' The first team to win five Super Bowls, '82, '85, '89, '90, '95. We're the only team to play in more than one Super Bowl and never lose a game. As the team of the '80s, we failed to make the playoffs twice in that decade. 17 division championships, 5 conference championships.

The San Francisco Giants have five WS titles ('05, '21, '22, '33, '54), 20 NL pennants, six West division titles, one wild-card berth.' -jcap24

Lawrence, KS

'The town's college basketball players are like gods that walk among us as yet they are one of us. Jayhawk basketball players are treated with a worship-like love and yet a respect of privacy when seen at the local movie theater or shopping on Mass Street by everyone in town.

They can be found arguing sports at Watson's barbershop like any other sports fan. But they aren't any other sports fan because they are always hit with a high expectation comment like National Champions this year guys! It is expected here.' -Ronnard

Gainesville, FL

'Gainesville has produced numerous SEC and national titles to deserve the sign signifying TitleTown down I-75.

But more than that, Gators have taken TitleTown on the road. They have made the country, the continent, the world their TitleTown.

Whether it be winning NBA titles, World Series MVPs, Olympic gold, Women's World Cups or PGA titles, the Gator Nation reaches way beyond the University of Florida campus.

Wherever Gators are winning, the Gator Nation is there. In all types of weather, we all stick together ... Go Gators!'-torello13

Chapel Hill, N.C.

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  25 votes

'TitleTown USA is Chapel Hill, N.C., because of its national championships: five men's basketball, one women's basketball, five field hockey (including an undefeated championship this year), one men's soccer, four men's lacrosse, and 19 (yes, that stat is correct) women's soccer national championships. Ann Arbor, MI

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  24 votes

'The U of M in Ann Arbor is the creme de la creme when it comes to colleges around the country. Sure, USC may have a better football team, but we have 11 national titles and 42 Big Ten titles. Michigan State may best us in basketball, but we have our national title ('89) and multiple Final Four appearances. We have more NCAA national titles in hockey than any other program (9), and far more Frozen Four appearances. Our wrestling team sends men to compete for individual national titles on a yearly basis, and our baseball team has two national titles.' -umberman

Voldosta, GA

By: jambredt 54,422 points  report  26 votes

'From the national and state champion Valdosta High Wildcats, along with state champion Lowndes High Vikings, to the state independent school champion Valwood Valiants, football reigns supreme in Valdosta.

The highlight of every season is the annual Winnersville Classic football game between Valdosta High and Lowndes High. To many in Valdosta, the winner of this game is MORE important than any state championship!! On that Saturday, the two-time Division II national champion Valdosta State Blazers take the field to complete a weekend of definitely Winnersville football.

But if you think Winnersville is all about football, think again. We have national and state champions in tennis, baseball and softball, just to name a few.' -VSU_BlazerLady

Before this contest, I didn't know where that was. Now all that I know is that it is in Georgia. Green Bay will always be Titletown, USA, no matter what Georgians or ESPN says, so get used to it.
